Since launching in 2005, Dirtybird has become one of the most beloved and influential names in electronic music. Founded by Claude VonStroke (aka Barclay Crenshaw), the label started with a simple mission: drop basslines, make people smile, and have fun doing it. The now-iconic bird logo? It came from a childhood sketch Claude used to make his younger brother laugh.
Over the years, Dirtybird has launched the careers of cutting-edge artists like Justin Martin, Catz 'n Dogz, Shiba San, Eats Everything, J.Phlip, and many more—many of whom released their first tracks and even adopted their artist names through the label.
With headquarters in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Dirtybird has grown far beyond music releases. It now encompasses events, festivals, merchandise, licensing, and artist management—all while keeping its irreverent, DIY spirit alive. In 2013, Dirtybird was named “Underground Label of the Year” at the International Dance Music Awards, a nod to its lasting impact on global dance culture.
