93 FEET EAST – ARTIST FEATURE: JOSHUA ROBERTS
Ahead of our arrival at East London’s iconic 93 Feet East…We asked some of our immensely talented artists, who will be soundtracking your sizzling all-dayer, some quick fire questions.
Artist – Joshua Roberts
Room – The Hall / Live Room
We are buzzing to have you play for us at 93 Feet East on August 3rd. To begin, tell us a bit about yourself as an artist, where it began and some of your career highlights so far…
J: I always had a strong love of music growing up, getting my first turntable when I was 5 years old. I started off playing local house parties at the age of 14 then at the age of 17 I won the Radio 1 National Young DJ Search, I’m very grateful for having that opportunity and am still here loving it 20 years on!
We all have those records in the bag that will be there for eternity…what is the one record that stands out for you, one you couldn’t live without, that always sends the crowd?
J: Weiss – Feel My Needs is always a strong contender, I was having a conversation about this with one of my friends the other day as James has just done a new remix which takes it in a different direction, yet it just hits! Double 99 – Ripgroove is always a firm favourite too.
93 is one of London’s hottest venues. Have you played before? What are you most looking forward to about it?
J: It will be my first time playing here although I’ve partied here loads over the years, we used to get the train down from Norwich for their Sunday afternoon parties Fuse. Really excited to finally get on that sound system and the crowd are always keen to hear something different and exciting.
What have you got in the pipeline as an artist? Any new releases coming up that we can look forward to hearing at 93?
J: I’m going to be enhancing the ‘live set’ element further (the DJ set + drums), lots of bookings coming in for next Summer already so will just continue to evolve.
Finally, do you have a message for the ravers who will be there on Saturday 3rd? What can we expect?
J: Yes, I can’t wait to see you all! I know there’s a big crew coming from all over the UK so it should be a melting pot of madness!
