Stormy J is a Bristol-based DJ and broadcaster whose career began on underground dance stations in Southend, where she grew up. From there, she made her mark on the London airwaves and is now the host of a weekly show on Select Radio, a hub for house and electronic music. Known for her time-bending, era-fusing sets, Stormy J seamlessly bridges a whole spectrum of rave culture from soulful house to jackin' house to old school techno.
Stormy J's sound is also deeply influenced by her Caribbean heritage, inspired by the legacy of her grandparents who migrated to Britain in the 1960s. Last summer, Stormy J made waves by creating the world’s first Jab-House DJ mix and DIY movie. Jab-house is a term she coined to describe the fusion of house, electronic rave, jab-jab, and gutter soca music that celebrates unapologetic freedom, carnival, and festival culture.
Stormy J’s Jab-house sound has already resonated on prominent platforms like Sian Anderson’s BBC 1Xtra show and at club nights in Bristol, including Ruffnek Discotek and Terrain. Most recently, she brought Jab-house to the global stage during Miami Music Week on Masisi Radio and is excited to continue spreading her unique sound to even more corners of the world.
