Bill Mcgruddy
Bill McGruddy is a Presenter, DJ, Composer, Producer, Recording artist and Lyricist.
His career in music began at the age of 11 as a classical concert pianist.
In the late 90’s, Bill toured internationally with his authentic tribute to Jim Morrison and The Doors as Lead Vocalist.
After working with Solarstone under the band name Zodiac, Bill wrote and recorded the vocals for “Touch the Sky”.
They collaborated further as Z2 “I Want You” and 2nd Element “Underwaterfall”, and Bill has collaborated and contributed on many Solarstone tracks ever since.
Z2’s ‘I Want You’ was a dance floor hit with BBC Radio 1 support from Pete Tong and Paul van Dyke.
“I Want You” was licensed on Northern Exposure Sasha & John Digweed, Global Underground Nick Warren, Euphoria Albums with Judge Jules and Lange, and a mix album from Way Out West to name but a few.
With over 10,000 copies of vinyl pre-sale from HMV, the single reached number 6 in the official UK Indie charts.
Various tracks and remixes have included Bill’s original vocal from “Touch the Sky” including Paul Oakenfold’s remix of Solarstone’s track ‘Release’ with a piano performance on Tiesto’s remix of “Like a Waterfall” with vocalist Jes.
“Underwaterfall” went on to appear on “Chilled out Euphoria” selling over 80,000 copies and was described as “ahead of its time” by Mix Magazine.
Bill went on as a vocalist and writer with other successful electronic artists resulting in a string of underground club hits well into the early 00’s, including collaborations with Perpetual Motion (Manefesto), Andy Manston (Clockwork Orange), Ruffloaderz and members of Dreamcatcher (Positiva). Bill has also written for Natasha Atlas, Wishbone Ash, and Alabama 3.
A versatile and dynamic composer, Bill became involved in music composition and production for film, television and theatre from 2010.
As well as touring with his indie band The Southern Electrics, Bill pursued his passion of producing electronic music, releasing two singles and an album on MI5 Recordings with Townsend/Universal Music Group.
With 39 years of live experience, Bill has performed countless concerts and festivals, as well as live television and radio performances.
After life-changing family circumstances, Bill found his twin flame — she was the catalyst for a renewed and more powerful passion for Electronic Music.
In 2023, Bill realised he had a natural ability on the decks and is able to mix while playing synths, piano, and performing vocals.
In May 2024, Bill cut his teeth with Slick Radio with a live 2-hour broadcast each Saturday from his studio in Norwich.
With a Christmas release scheduled for 20th Dec 2024 on LNG Recordings, Bill continues to release tracks with Blackhole Recordings and their family of labels.
With the launch of his label We Are One and tour plans, 2025 looks to be a very exciting year indeed. Hello World, let’s go!
